People shouldn't be punished for being selfless... right? >_>

So I was at the mall in the Macy's men's area picking up the gift for my secret santa. I found the jacket and was about to buy it when I noticed the price tag. I went back to the clothes hanger to see that it would only be 79.99 instead of 99.99 if I used a Macy's card. I called my mom to see if she had a Macy's card and she did. So I waited for her to come over so I could use it, and then she takes a look at the jacket and the price and starts judging it negatively. Then I tell her the jacket isn't for me, it's a gift for my secret santa.

This is where things get unpleasant. She goes on ranting to me about how I shouldn't spend that much on a present for someone else. That they won't be getting me anything nice like that. Since when the hell would she know? Then my brother comes up with a 129.99 jacket which my mom doesn't like either, but since it's for himself it's totally okay!

Now I can understand where she's coming from, but just because she wants to be that type of selfish person doesn't mean I have to be! Hell I've learned better, I've taught MYSELF better! And I'll be damned if a few dollars more means I get someone a nice gift for Christmas or not! Isn't this what all those Christmas specials are about? The act of giving and being selfless to another person besides yourself?

And to add insult to injury, after she tries to "educate" me of my "wrongdoing" I tell her I'm still going to buy it. And then she tells me she won't let me use her Macy's card to save $20. Where the hell does this make sense!? If you wanted me to spend less money on my present why the hell aren't you letting me save some on the purchase!? I walk up to the register anyway telling her she can basically back the hell off cause I'm going to buy this with or without her discount. And then I open up a rewards program and Macy's card myself to save %30, even more than I would've with her in the first place. Ha!

But even after all the crap she put me through she NOW HAS THE AUDACITY to walk up and tell the register clerk that she has a Macy's Card and she'll use it to get me a discount. Having second thoughts mom? TOO FREAKING LATE! The purchase had already gone through by that time and for the rest of the day I was in a pissed off mood. And now I have a second credit card I'll hardly ever use... Tch! >_>
